Human Side of Crisis

Each day, people expect to be safe and feel secure. Then suddenly, a traumatic incident occurs that rocks the collective sense-of-safety of impacted stakeholders. What should you do in the crisis aftermath to address the concerns, needs, and traumatic stress of people who are distressed by a work-related crisis? Thankfully, there are field-tested and empirically-based methods to accelerate effective post-crisis return to a new normal.
When distressing crises occur, impacted stakeholders are quick to affix blame and become outraged. They feel entitled to a straightforward and highly effective crisis response. Your actions can accelerate recovery or increase the severity and longevity of the crisis. If improperly managed, human-related complications and barriers to crisis resolution will arise, e.g., misunderstandings, hostilities, outrage, fear, blame, attrition, and delayed return to productive work. If you demonstrate a timely, caring and effective response, morale and loyalty to the organization will go up. Reputation will be enhanced with other stakeholders, as well, e.g., family members, community, social media, etc.So, what should you do to minimize these people-related complexities? Ultimately, effective crisis management is all about people. Learn take-and-use methods for addressing the needs and concerns of impacted stakeholders, defusing human-related complexities, and accelerating post-crisis recovery, based on the presenter’s empirical research and 25+ years of crisis response experience. Content includes:
